Reformat Nokia N97

Nokia N97 employs the S60 fifth edition Symbian OS and is the first touch enabled N-Series device coming with a horizontal tilt- slide form factor. Power packed, the device offers great Internet and entertainment capabilities. Featuring a 3.5 inch (360 x 640 resolution) touchscreen with haptic feedback, 5 MP camera (Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash), A-GPS and compass sensors, comprehensive connectivity options (WiFi, tri-band HSDPA, Bluetooth and USB), and 32GB of internal flash memory.

The massive 32 GB internal memory provides a good  deal of storage space finding enough room for all your music, pictures, videos, applications and your files. Chances are there you might need to reformat your device, if you have some issues. Most encountered issues are malware infection. Associated troubles like slow running device, frequent error messages, memory leak, multi tasking or application hang issues are also followed. Anti-virus programs can help fix almost any such issue, but most cases you may prefer a reformat. You can get your device running smooth just the way it did the very first time. I’m gonna discuss a few reformat options possible with your Nokia N97. Very easy techniques and of course you can squirrel some money in fixing things on your own.

Before You Reformat

I have two reformat options for your N 97, they are very easy and could be completed in no time. To start with, you need to understand that any reformat lead to the loss of data saved. So better connect your device with the PC and start syncing. When you are installed with a good PC Anti-virus, scanning and fixing the threats of your backed-up data is not a problem. Now make sure that your phone is sufficiently charged to perform a reformat. I would say you need at least 30% of available battery. You need to provide the Security Code a.k.a Lock Code when asked to confirm or initiate the reformat, so keep that ready.

Hard Format

Hard format makes use of key presses to initiate a reformat on boot. Now your Nokia N97 lacks the old keypad, so the traditional hard format key combination is not valid. But you can go for a different key combination. Switch off your device. Press hold the Caps shift, Space bar and Delete button, then turn on your device. Be sure not to leave the key press or you may need to start over again. Your Nokia N97 will initiate a reformat now. Wait patiently, and when it is done, you can see your device booting the way it did the first time. You have reformatted the device and it will work perfect as it always did

Soft Format

You can also make use of Soft format to reformat your Nokia N97, a substitute for hard format. This is even a simpler process as no need to press hold the keys like in case of Hard Format. To Soft format, simply close all running applications, come to the stand by screen and type in *#7370#. You will get a message displaying “Restore original settings? Phone will restart”. Provide the Lock Code and initiate the reformat. Just like Hard Format, it takes a bit time, wait till its done and after that you can find your device starting the way it did the first time.
