At times you may want to opt for a complete reformat of your Nokia 95. Most common issue that puts you to this situation is malware programs/ infections. When your device is landed with a few, you can see it compromising on performance, memory, multi-tasking and also show few other troubles like frequent error messages or application hang. A complete reformat is also one good way to clear everything off your phone, if it is a total mess. Discussed below are two possible reformat methods that you can do on your own.

Before you start reformatting your device, it should be known that you will lose every data stored in your phone. Everything including your contacts. Sim contacts will be left intact, but everything else stored in the phone will be lost. So backup whatever you think are important. Syncing the device with your PC is a good choice. To prevent unauthorized reformats, you need to provide the Lock Code/ Security Code to initiate the process. Keep ready your Security Code. If you have never changed the code anyway, the preset code would be 12345. Next is the battery. To prevent any possible data corruption while reformatting, you need to have sufficient battery. A 30% would be fine.

Hard Format

Hard Format a.k.a Hard Reset is a reformat technique that makes use of key presses to initiate the reformatting. Most phones running on the Symbian OS has a standard key press. Its just the same for your device. Switch off your device, press hold the Green Call key, Star(*) key and the Three(3) key and then turn on your device. Be sure not to leave the key press or you may need to start over again. Your Nokia N95 starts reformatting and after the reformat is complete, you can see your device boot the very way it did the first time you switched on. Enter the time zone, set data, time and start configuring your device. It is reformatted!

Soft Format

Soft Format a.k.a Soft Reset is a substitute for Hard format. An easier method to do, cutting off the need to press hold keys. Simply close all running application and programs, come to the Standby screen and press *#7370#. Your phone will ask for confirmation and you need to provide the Lock Code and press Yes. Wait till your Nokia N95 reformats itself and after it is done, start configuring your phone.
